Meet Tonia

Tonia's teaching style reflects her passion for making yoga accessible, welcoming, and meaningful for everyone. She believes yoga is a practice of self-discovery, offering an opportunity to deepen our understanding of ourselves and our individual journeys, both on and off the mat.

With a strong focus on education and empowerment, Tonia helps students understand the "why" behind movement and posture. By weaving anatomy into her classes, she provides a deeper understanding of the body while also exploring the emotional, mental, and spiritual benefits of yoga.

"It is a privilege to share my passion for yoga, movement, anatomy and sound healing. My goal is to help people incorporate these practices into their everyday lives in a way that feels sustainable, supportive and enjoyable. At the heart of everything I teach are kindness, curiosity, respect for one another, and the belief that wellness should be approached with both intention and joy."

Tonia completed her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training with Contemporary Yoga in 2017, followed by Yin Yoga and Myofascial Release Teacher Training. She also holds a qualification in Sports Massage from AUT, bringing a strong understanding of the body's structure and movement patterns to her teaching.

In addition to yoga, Tonia offers private and group Sound Bath experiences, creating deeply restorative spaces for relaxation, reflection and healing.

Based in Auckland, Tonia teaches yoga and hosts regular Sound Baths at Contemporary Yoga Centre in Remuera, alongside offering bespoke private sessions and wellness experiences throughout the Auckland region.

RNB Yoga Testimonial:

“Tonia’s class was a godsend at a time when I was suffering from burnout. Her class helped me not only move my body but to help me find calm and a wee slice of time for me to nurture myself. Her approachable and kind nature made it easy to turn up to class being newish to yoga practice, and her welcoming style meant I did not feel like I had to have the latest fashion gear or a “yoga body” to even walk into the studio. I felt comfortable, supported and non-judged at a time when I really needed it. Tonia was a practical, detailed and caring teacher. Her classes are a truly safe and diverse space for anyone to practice regardless of your experience/age/circumstance and as an added bonus the wisdom she shares along the way about the mind/body connection and body systems helped deepen the practice. Her sound bowl playing is heavenly, and was a highlight of the end of the class sending me home with that innate sense of peace that I really needed. Thank you so much Tonia, you have a rare gift of empathy and care for others which shines through practice and ultimately helped me get my mojo back”
